Wyatt The Wonder Dog has joined Bound With Love Mission to help provide textbooks to students at the Kioni Generations High School in Kenya. Proceeds from Wyatt sales will go toward the cost of textbooks for these devoted students!
Kioni Generations High School’s mission is to provide quality education to poor and underprivileged youth in the area of Tigania-Meru Kenya. Students are equipped to pass national exams and continue studies at national universities or take their place as productive members of the community after graduation. The 150 students attending the school are the hope for ending the cycle of poverty and eliminating child labor in the area.
Can you imagine studying Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Kiswahili, Social Studies, Business, Religion, and Agriculture without any technology? How about without textbooks? How about teaching without a teacher’s guide?
The chalk board, the teacher’s voice, and the student’s fortitude are the only resources available.
The most pressing task for the Bound with Love mission is procuring funds for textbooks and teacher’s guides for all content areas offered at the Kioni School. The total costs for class sets of 20 student texts and one teacher’s guide per grade level/content area is approximately $3800. All textbooks are under $5.00.
In June of 2012, Beth Garrett will be traveling back to Kenya to purchase and deliver the resources to the Kioni School. 100% of donations will be spent on educational resources and storage containers.
